Configure disk scaling for Vitess keyspaces
You can now control how disks in a Vitess keyspace are sized, from the dashboard, the API, or the pscale CLI. Let disks grow automatically up to a storage limit, turn growth off, or shrink disks with more capacity than you need.
There are three disk scaling options:
- Grow automatically (the default): disks grow as they fill up, until they reach the storage limit you set
- Off: disks stay at their current size and will no longer grow
- Shrink: disks are recreated at the size you choose, and automatic growth is then turned off
You're billed for the disk capacity, not the storage limit. A shrink will be rejected if any disk is using more than 80% of the requested size.
In the dashboard, go to your database's Clusters page, select a keyspace, and open the Storage tab. In the API, use the storage object on the update keyspace endpoint. In the CLI (v0.344.0 and later), use pscale keyspace update-settings with --disk-scaling-strategy, --max-storage, and --storage.
