TIN 1.0.4: word stemming and score tie-breaking
TIN 1.0.4 is now available for PlanetScale Postgres.
Word stemming. Create a TIN index with WITH (stemmer = 'en') to match inflected words as the same term. A query for runs also matches run and running. Stemming is optional, per index, and supports 18 Snowball languages. See index options.
Score tie-breaking. Ranked searches can keep a bounded top-k scan when you add more ORDER BY keys after tin.score(ctid). Use a unique key such as id so equal-score rows stay in a stable order. See scoring.
To pick up 1.0.4 on an existing cluster:
- Update your cluster so it restarts onto the new TIN library.
- In every database that has the extension, run
ALTER EXTENSION tin UPDATE;.
If you enable or change stemming on a populated index, follow the change with REINDEX.
