The Marketing team at PlanetScale drives awareness and adoption of our database platform through storytelling, brand activations, demand generation, community building, and education.  We are responsible for transforming how the industry thinks about using and developing alongside databases. We are changing the game and that’s no easy feat. 

We’re looking for a product  marketer with a growth marketing mindset to drive PlanetScale forward as the leader in database platforms. The ideal candidate has experience leading product or growth marketing strategy that’s aligned with sales and marketing KPIs (including MQLs, pipeline, and revenue). This is a high-growth and high-visibility role for someone looking to build a revenue generating machine within our very own product. You will be driving or supporting all new industry messaging for enterprise marketing.

What’s the job to be done?

  • Own the positioning, messaging, content, and activities associated with how we bring PlanetScale to the enterprise market.
  • Reinforce our position as the market leader by creating inspiring, compelling and consistent product positioning tied to our key differentiators and enterprise value propositions.
  • Build and lead growth campaigns that collaborate extensively with and support multiple teams across the organization including:
    • Product Management - Integrates across all phases of the product life cycle from outcome-driven product discovery activities to growing the adoption of mature products.
    • Developer Relations - Aligns positioning and content that synchronizes the messaging of all products and services to key market verticals and customer profiles. 
    • Sales, Sales Enablement, and Sales Ops - Creation and evolution of new sales, positioning, messaging, content, and activities for every product, from initial meeting to final close deck.
    • Corporate Marketing - Defining positioning, messaging, and supporting the creation and success of our marketing content and campaigns.
  • Manage full-cycle execution of our product-led marketing campaigns across different channels with a strong emphasis on rapidly scaling and evaluating new opportunities.

What you will need

  • 5+ years SaaS product marketing experience supporting high-value, complex, enterprise SaaS-based sales.
  • Track record of leading product or growth marketing strategy and programs for multiple products and markets for the same company.
  • Experience selling into a highly technical buyer, ideally on the IT side of the house
  • A builder mentality, with the ability to lead cross-functionally
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication, strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment; able to deal with ambiguity in a fast-paced business
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment
