PlanetScale’s Marketing team is responsible for the creation and execution of engaging, results driven branding, marketing, sales and demand generation campaigns including large global conferences, regional sales enablement events, webinars and targeted account marketing. We also handle the website, paid and organic search, social media, blogs, collateral, promotions, public relations, and advertising.

Our Brand/Event Marketing Manager will have strong communication and project management skills to support all our marketing activities. You will lead and implement our field marketing events. This position is ideal for a creative, results-oriented, self-starting field marketer interested in working at a high-tech startup, who recognizes the opportunity for exposure to a dynamic and productive marketing team.

What’s the job to be done?

  • You will optimize field marketing programs and events that align to our integrated campaigns and generate new business.
  • You will deliver creative, engaging, premier, digital and in-person experiences for our user and prospect audiences across all customer segments.
  • You will research relevant event and conference details (competitors present, attendee demographics, market focus, venue, pricing, etc.).
  • You will run direct mail outreach projects – assist in defining recipients, confirm lists, print labels, assemble and mail.
  • You will produce in person and virtual events from concept to completion: set up and monitor trade show services orders (electrical, lead retrieval devices, internet, drayage, furniture, carpet, AV, booth graphics), handle vendors, build sales playbooks, maintain guest lists, send calendar invites, make reminder phone calls, construct nametags and check-in lists, measure results.
  • You will partner closely with internal and external PlanetScale attendees, and employ their presence and expertise.
  • You will develop event budgets and track expenses.
  • You will assist in the lead import process after events to ensure they are imported accurately, and Sales is enabled to follow up with them appropriately.

What you will need

  • 5+ year experience in event marketing. Global event experience a plus.
  • Experience building strong relationships and trust with sales, engineering, and other collaborators in the business.
  • Knowledge of marketing principles, practices, tactics, and tools including campaign/demand generation/go to market strategies.
  • Strong in developing processes, programs, and thinking at scale.
  • Proven ability to balance multiple requirements in a fast paced/unstructured environment
  • Experience with project management and working with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and oral. Comfort with public speaking.
  • You use and interpret data and analytics to quantify and improve marketing results.
  • Ability to think creatively and bring innovative ideas to the table to support marketing efforts.
  • Experience with enterprise sales and developer communities.
  • Salesforce knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25% of work time
